Rev. Roux Malan

Rev. Roux Malan served Cape Town Unitarians from 2007 till 2017 as resident minister and since then is serving as a community minister. He served as a member of Leadership & Design Team tasks to create a new collaborative structure for UU's globally for almost 3 years. He received a master's degree in clinical pastoral care from the University of Stellenbosch in South Africa. In 2007 he attended the Unitarian College in Manchester, UK and was accepted on the International Role of Minister of the The General Assembly of Unitarian and Free Christian Churches. He is passionate about the development of Unitarian communities in Africa and the collaboration of Unitarians globally. Since 2011 he participated in three conferences for Unitarian Leaders on the African Continent. The most recent was in October 2024 in Bujumbura, Burundi. He has a special interest in Zen meditation practice, reading the Bible from a liberal perspective, nature spirituality and social activism. He loves reading, visiting the beautiful beaches of Cape Town, and spending time with his partner, Rachel, and family.

Gur Mouanga

Gur Milandou Mouanga, known as Father Gur, is originally from the Congo- Brazzaville, residing in South Africa for more than two decades. He currently works as a manager at a local Wine Estates in Cape Town. In his spare time, Gur is a dedicated community activist focused on social justice and interfaith fields. He earned a Masters of Arts in Leadership Studies at Meadville Lombard Faculty in Chicago in 2019 and currently, studying for a Masters in Divinity, aiming to be ordained as a UU Minister. He serves as an Intern and Lay Leader in the ministry at Cape Town Unitarian Community in South Africa and is very engaged in the development of the Unitarian Tradition in Africa and member of the Pan-African UU Leadership Team, member of Francophone UU Network and a founder of the grass roots movement Faith-in-Action Campus. Gur is a father of two children, a boy Laurent Alpha and a girl Roselyn Francisca. He is married to an educator Lungisani from Zimbabwe and have lived together for more than a two decades.
